It is truly amazing to be able to witness people that genuinely enjoy their profession, and music fans at the Ogden Theatre in Denver were able to see this last night as Josh Ritter and The Royal City Band performed. Ritter stormed the stage with a smile from ear to ear, and that's how every fan left the theatre. Their musical talent is incredible and the way Ritter and his band captivated the audience was pure genius. Ritter is not just a singer/songwriter, but a poet, a storyteller, a skilled guitar player, and exudes incredible energy that is beyond contagious.
They played songs from their new album, "So Runs The World Away," as well as hits from their previous albums. He told us about his homeland in, "Idaho," kneeled on the ground and howled into the night as he played, "Wolves," told us a tale in, "Folk Bloodbath," shed light on the audience with "Lantern," sang a tribute to veterans with, "Girl In The War," got all the girls nervous with, "Right Moves," and ended with a dynamic rendition of "To The Dogs or Whoever."
Ritter's immense talented is accompanied by stellar talent. Zack Hickman rocks the bass and may have one of raddest mustaches around, Sam Kassier masters the keys, Austin Nevins shreds on the guitar, and Liam Hurley dominates on the sticks.
Josh Ritter one of the greatest musicians of our time. His show is a must-see, and once it's been seen, music fans will leave the theatre just as everyone in Denver did, with a smile.
