The start of 3rd annual Mile High Music Festival is closing in fast. According to their official website there is exactly 2 days, 18 hours, 9 minutes and 13 seconds until the kick-off of this great, summer festival. The weather forecast looks like it will be cooperating with a high of 81, and clear on Saturday, and a high of 76 on Sunday with only a slight chance of thunderstorms. A music fan really can't beat what this festival has to offer with the variety of artists. This year's festival has the big names of Jack Johnson and Dave Matthews, but also incredibly talented artists that are making waves throughout the country.
One of those artists that is a must see is Joe Purdy. He'll be making his way to the Elk Stage on Sunday, from 12:30-1:15. He just recently released his 11th album 4th of July at 4:00 in the morning. A person may ask why, and the answer is because he can, and because that's when it was finished. Purdy has his own, independent, record label, Mudtown Crier Records. A live-stream of his CD can be heard here:
Here, too, is the link where you can listen and purchase the 4th of July and/or other Joe Purdy albums. Begin by listening to "Troubadour" on the 4th of July album and you won't be surprised that he's sold over 1 million direct track downloads in the US on Itunes. It isn't the result of a big-label backing, corporations, marketing, advertising or any of those sort of things, because that's not what Purdy has. He, however, has a guitar in his hand, a harmonica or microphone near his lips, and the drive and talent to take his music to stages around the world to the fortunate ears of his audience.
This Sunday, at 12:30, he'll take the stage at the Mile High Music Festival, to the lucky souls under the Elk Tent.
