New to Denver-Music.com is the "Song of the Day." Some of the songs you may have heard, others you may have not. This will be an attempt for music fans to find some new artists, buy some CD's, and see some of the featured artist's shows when they come around your area.
Some songs will be dedicated, have a story behind them, while some posts may be just some information on the band. Sometimes it will be a combination of all three. I'll be posting this web address on Facebook for a couple weeks, but the best bet would be to bookmark this website.
Also, if you have a song you'd like to dedicate or a song you'd like to see as the "Song of the Day" leave it at the comment section of this page or send me a Facebook message. I'll do my best to accommodate your request. I hope you like the new series, and enjoy their music as much as I do.
Today's "Song of the Day" comes from Xavier Rudd and Izintaba with their song, "Time To Smile." I thought a good, uplifting song would be perfect for this idle Friday, and one can't find a more uplifting artist than Xavier Rudd and Izintaba. Rudd, in 2008, met up with bassist Tio Moloantoa and drummer/percussionist Andile Nqubezelo, and have since been able to fuse both African and Australian folk styles for an incredible sound.
Today's song goes out to my on the road buddy, Craig "The Otter" Johnson, for it was on those lonesome highways in faraway lands that'd we put on Xavier Rudd, and a smile would make its way across our faces. Mr. Rudd accompanied us on many miles, and we wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
The below video is directed by Jeremy Fisher, and is on the album, "Koonyum Sun." Lyrics always catch my eye, and a verse from "Time To Smile," reads,
"Well I'm packing things in my bag today,
Heading south to my country again.
Summer is coming, it's time to smile.
See worry and change it has spun me around,
My big old heart has been ripped right out.
Summer is coming, it's time to smile."
To buy his CDs, for updates, tour dates, and other news click on his website, or follow him on his Facebook Page. Colorado is also lucky in that Xavier Rudd and Izintaba will be in Aspen, at the Belly Up, April 28, 2011, and at the Odgen Theatre in Denver April 29th. Tickets can be purchased for either show here. Enjoy "Time To Smile,"
